How Detroit Pizza got 4× the repeat customers on its own site and app

Detroit-style pizza, baked in blue steel. It started in 2020 in a hole in the wall in Battersea. Now Detroit Pizza sells direct, on its own site and app, with loyalty built in. Repeat customers went up four times.

A hole in the wall in Battersea

Detroit Pizza London came to life in 2020, when London locked down. Born out of necessity. A yearning for home.

The first kitchen was a literal hole in the wall in a Network Rail graveyard in Battersea. Customers picked up their orders through a dark, sketchy alleyway. After a few weeks, queues started to form.

Demand kept rising. Detroit Pizza wanted to sell direct without losing quality, take large catering pre-orders, and run loyalty and CRM under its own name. Not as another face in the marketplace.
